The photography course was another great activity. It was a real treat getting to spend the day learning and experimenting with lots of elements of photography. We started out learning the basics of controlling a DSLR camera. We learned about all the different modes and started out taking photos in auto letting the camera do all the hard work. Lucky for me and a couple others we were familiar with cameras and understood aperture, Iso and shutter speed and how to get the correct lighting. This meant we had more time to be creative and experiment with a variety of different shots we wanted to try with the equipment we had available.
The photography course was no doubt one of my favorite days we had this year. It was a great change from class and was very enjoyable being left to do what we wanted to do and for us to be creative in whatever way we wanted. We set up a number of different shots from in studio portraits to action shots. We were able to set up a variety of different themes to shoot even so far as setting up basketball dunks to get mid-air shots. After we spent a large portion of the day, free and creative with all of our shots we were able to upload them to my laptop and edit them to make any corrections to lighting and make the photos more dramatic. Doing this really brought a lot of life to our photos. I am very happy with what we got and loved being able to spend the day doing photography.
